Just got back this evening. There was 6 inches of ice in the channel on friday and then the rain started. We got a bunch of rain and then it turned to snow and we hit the channel again at 8 pm that night. No fish but dropped the flashlight down the hole and got it back with the net.
This morning, we landed 4 northern and 1 bass. we had 5 inches of ice.I'll be back up Jan 4-7!
WillyBass--This helps confirm all the rumors I have heard about eye's being caught but haven't seen proof till now. Will be heading up next weekend to hit the ice insearch of another.
Hello,
First time on the Forum. I wish the best of luck for it!I went fishing for Pike all day Saturday 1/11/07 on Big Blacksmith. There were a few parties out there. My party was six tip ups, another close to me had around 15. Overall, we pulled in around 10 Snakes all under 19". Just a few panfish. All fish were caught on a flat between 10-14' of water. I think the bigger ones are deeper yet or on a drop off???.Went fishing on 1/12/07 in my channel for a few hours with no action, except one small bluegill.I then heard from my neighbor that the Pike do not enter the channels until later in the year. Will try again next weekend. Good luck. And please give info in return as well. Thanks,Pike Master
On 1/20/07, went ice fishing on the lake with the dam. Was near a 30' hole. I fished on the outside edges in 15' water. I also had tip ups in 20-25' with no action. Anyway, we caught around 6 pike, most averaged 17-20". I then caught a pike -26" whose belly was Fat. The pan fish were all small and bit lightly. Caught one crappie that hit hard. Also lost a big something jiggin.Another guy fished Big Blacksmith, caught around 10 pike all under 14-17".
Fished Friday-Sunday mostly on Spring we tried 12 to 25 fow with Medium Shiners a foot off the bottom to 4 feet under ice. Caught 4 Northern 15"-20". Lost on bigger one under ice. Fishing was slow. Sunday landed 24" pike in 10ft Lot's of guys out this weekend but no a lot of action.Cribhog any luck Sunday afternoon.
Fishing Friday and Sat. quite a few tip ups nothing jigging, Overall caught 5 Bass 12-13" no keepers, 10 northern kept 4 around 22-23" rest small. Caught one 10" crappie never caught one like that in summer also released hopefully to grow more. Had a great time Ice was about 9" Felt good to be out on the ice..Oh yeah Pestigo area
I just heard of Legend Lake and would like to take my 12 year old boy up there next summer. Is there a place to rent a boat? What is the Northern Pike fishing like? THanks!!
Any predictions on when Ice will go out? I am hoping and planning on Good Friday to float the boat, but we need some sun, rain and strong winds. I would like to predict April 5th
Looks like the ice will go out sooner this year than the normal approx. April 15th. Hope so!!! Especially if this weather keeps up. Your April 5th sounds like a pretty good guess. I will predict April 8th, just in case it turns colder again.
I hope it is the 4th,but I will be content sticking with my 5th date in all hopes of being able to launch the boat. Is there a current ice depth? Has anyone had any luck catching any luck with Crappies in early spring?
Nice! I've been seeing some good sized perch and bass in front by me on Sapokesick. I'll be ready for it after a few hours of work around the lot this weekend…
We ended up catching a couple of walleye this weekend. the biggest was 19 inches. I was pretty excited to see that. Also, quite a few bass in the shallows. Nice weekend for fishing.
My 10 year old son caught a nice 32" muskie last year and someone else said they had a nice one follow up to their boat. Also caught a couple nice northerns last year in the same area, but still nothing real big.
Fished from 8:30 till 4 and caught 7 Northern 18"-26" 3 where above 20"'s great to see them starting to get some size to them. Will be back up Friday afternoon with many more lines in the water. All where caught with Large Golden Shiners in about 6fow. Anyone else have any luck? Left at 5:30am Sunday morning...horrible ride south took 2hrs to go 40mile south of Green Bay.
How's the fishing been this spring? I am hoping to get up there in the next couple weeks and wanted to know where the lake is with regards to temp, spawning activity, lake levels, etc. Any info would be appreciated.
The Bass fishing has been good for me this Spring, Small and Large mouth - and Rock. Lake looks to be about 5-6 inches high. Here's the link for the temp.
30-35 feet deep. There is only a few spots on the lake that deep if my info is correct. Nice to hear that there is something down there. Most of my experience has been fishing the shorelines for bass. We have gotten Rockies in the spring when they are up on the beds but usually they disappear come hot weather. Never seen, or heard, of smallies in Legend either - glad to hear it though. What were you fishing with in the holes? Worms, minnows, artificial?
Quick favor. If anyone knows the name and number of the new Boat Repair place in Shawano please pass it on. I believe it is kitty-corner from the Perkins just past the little mall with the liquor store. Nothing is coming up online or in the Yellow Pages. This brutal winter put a hole in my fiberglass boat and I need it repaired. Thanks in advance.
"by tight drop offs" -- don't think you'll find much down there in the real deep. Have a look-see at the Fishing Maps, there are plenty of deep spots (at least 7). As far as bait, just make sure you respect the Bass, Worms/Minnows does not show respect
P.S. - you may have better luck posting on the Classified Ads page for Boat Repairs.
It was S &S marina they did a good job , still have interest in company , sold as of last year might be able to help. Thats usually where I go Great People
Went up this past weekend and had a great time - except for Sunday. That was some wind (and cold too), it felt like October and it is only late June. Wife caught her first bass - ever. Will post once I figure out how to add a picture.
Overall we caught about 14 bass and 5 northern over the 3 1/2 days. Fished every morning from 7 to 9 and most evenings around sunset. Starting to figure out some of the lakes and hope that the success continues next time we are up on the lake. It seems to me that the lake is "healthier" than it has been in the past.
Well, I didn't get the picture figured out so if anyone has any tips, please let me know.
Looking to get back up in the next week or so and hope the fishing and weather remain excellent. Any news on the weed kill - has it started to show? Please post any news on fish and hot spots (if you're willing to share;-)

Hey
everyone! Headed up to Legend lake this weekend and plan on doing some
fishin. Wonderin if anyone can help me out. I'm going to basically be
targeting Northern Pike aiming for fish 30" or larger. Wondering if
there's a lure out there or spots that I should fish differently if
this is what I'm going for...most reports I've read mention smaller
fish...so i'm not sure if there arent any larger fish in the lake.
Also
I've read places that there are walleye and muskie in the lake. Are
these fish worth fishing for and if so any tips on that would be very
much appreciated...Thank you very much, I appreciate it.
Went up last weekend and had another great weekend. Weather was perfect (just enough breeze to keep the bugs at bay). Caught a nice 20" LMB on the lodge lake, great fight and WOW what fun. Probably the biggest bass I have caught up there in the 5 years I have been going. Caught some more smaller bass as well but nothing came close in size. One northern, by accident, about 24". Lake level is low so this might be why the fishing was below average. Please keep this board updated with your latest info. Be safe.
Also posted a picture of the crappie my son caught, it was about 13-14".
Nice catch Bob. I fished the lodge lake a little last weekend. Caught a few tiny northern, 8-12" and one about 20". Fishing seemed slow to me too. Fish getting lazy in the warm water?
Heading up this holiday weekend and hope to get some nice weather. For you folks fishing this week please keep the board fresh with updates and pictures. Has the lake level come up any?
I had a couple nice bass over on Big Blacksmith but my uncle totally killed them on the Lodge Lake one morning. They (he had a friend with him) caught about 8 LMB each and none were smaller than 17". They said they must have hit a sweet spot because there were about 4 or 5 other boats in the same area and no one else was pulling them up. I am hoping to get up soon. Lake was low as Y2K mentioned.
It appears that the date will come much sooner than the 5th. I can not wait and will be putting the boat in on Friday the 6th.
Crib Hog--when will be be diving for those lost boots???
Hey Bull,
I didn't have my gear with me, but saw a nice crappie poking out from under my dock today. They're in from the deep!
John
The Gang caught some nice sized Bass this Weekend, one about 2+ size of these:
We ended up catching a couple of walleye this weekend. the biggest was 19 inches. I was pretty excited to see that. Also, quite a few bass in the shallows. Nice weekend for fishing.
WillyBass, NICE bluegill!
Although this article is about lakes in MN, I found it interesting enough to share.
A few sites on the internet state there are Muskie in the lake. Anyone ever bagged one? How about a big Northern?
My 10 year old son caught a nice 32" muskie last year and someone else said they had a nice one follow up to their boat. Also caught a couple nice northerns last year in the same area, but still nothing real big.
Not big, maybe 26" max (but I was fishing with a jig, just trying for panfish or bass). Largest northern was about the same size.
If I could figure out how to post a picture I would!
Edited to add, I kinda got it figured out I guess. And I'm not really unhappy, it just took my wife too long to take the picture!!

Does anyone know when the ice fishing derby(s) are this year? I thought there was one organized by the VFW in early Jan. Thanks.
John
Any body done any fishing lately???? Any Luck????? Is all the snow gone on the lake with the past weather this Week?
Coming up this weekend. Curious if anything is bitting??? Anyone???
Thnx Logar. Hope to have some luck this weekend! Looks like the weather will be nicer!

Willy,
You've been catching smallies? Didn't know there were any in the lake.
Where did you catch those? I've only caught largemouth (and rock) bass.
Thanks.
What's fun is pulling small, large and rock out of the same area. I'll have to post a picture of the next one, some are fair sized.
I've been seeing em by tight drop offs, holes around 30-35 feet deep…
