1 Small Bear {anchor:Small Bear} {html}<p><font color="#000080">FYI:&nbsp; </font></p><p><font color="#000080">A small Bear (about 150 pounds) has been raiding garbage bins and bird feeders in the Otter Ponds and Spotted Fawn area.&nbsp; He bends over bird feeder poles to get at the seed.&nbsp; Bring in your bird feeders if you don&#39;t want him breaking them.&nbsp; </font></p><p><font color="#000080">&nbsp;</font></p><p>&nbsp;</p>{html} 2008-05-22 22:29:53.493 2008-05-22 22:28:56.549 {html}Update 05/25/2008: The Bear is getting bold and coming back to the same places...{html} 2008-05-25 09:56:46.913 2008-05-25 09:55:19.562 {html}We had a pole bent and a broken feeded over on Silver Canoe also.&nbsp; Spoke with someone out riding this weekend and also saw 3.{html} 2008-05-27 15:47:19.7 2008-05-27 15:47:19.663 {html}<p>The one I scared away about 5 days ago was standing up with his nose and front paws stretched out trying to reach a feeder filled with sunflower seed.&nbsp; Ran-off amazingly fast.&nbsp; He was getting close to touching the feeder which is about 5 feet off the ground - pretty small Bear.&nbsp; One also made off with a sewit feeder the other night - we still haven&#39;t found it.</p><p>&nbsp;I also heard through a 3rd party (couldn&#39;t confirm it) about a Mother Bear and 3 cubs in the Silver Canoe area bending over feeder poles.&nbsp; Certainly wouldn&#39;t want to mess with a full grown Mother with cubs... </p>{html} 2008-05-27 16:17:42.663 2008-05-27 16:17:42.656 {html} Update 5/28/2008: Looks like the same small Bear visited the Spotted Fawn neighborhood again last night. He walked up our front hill past where our bird feeder normally is. I circled around him and when he heard me - he ran to a large oak and hugged it (apparently he's a tree hugger ;-) As I approached he shimmied up the tree about 20 feet - faster than a squirrel. I took these pictures in total darkness - and at a some-what safe distance.
