Notes from the August Grant and Communications Committee
- Youth contest and pumping cards are being received
- Private property/no trespass fliers will be passed out to non residents at the boat launches. The sheriff’s dept. will also use them
- Clean Boats Clean Waters program kits have been received for volunteers to use at the boat launches
- 2196 watercraft have been identified on Legend Lake. Trailers will be counted at the boat launches Labor Day weekend
- Lakes and Ponds reported a 95% kill of the EWM. Oxygen levels in the water were better than historical levels; there was no sign of the chemical in the fish or a fish kill and native milfoil was not harmed. There will be a follow up treatment in September to kill new growth in the treated areas
- A $45,000 grant was received from the EPA in July of which Legend Lake gets $22,000
- A number of tickets for violations on the lake were given out by the sheriff’s dept.
- There are no long range plans to stock fish at the present time. The Fish Committee is looking for recommendations. There will be no stocking of walleye per the DNR
- A Lake Faire will be discussed at the next meeting. Suggestions and volunteers welcome.
