Eurasian Water Milfoil treatment will only amount to about 220 acres in the Spring Lake area this year. In order to do the originally proposed 660 acre treatment we would need another environmental impact statement which would take months to accomplish. Weed harvesting will not be allowed in chemically treated areas due to its causing more spreading of the invasive EWM. Harvesting will only take place in the lodge end and dam end of the lakes which have not been chemically treated. In 2002 we had 50 acres infested; it increased dramatically to over 600 now. The DNR doubted our survey and will do their own next season at their expense.
The sandbags placed at the dam to divert the water where it should be was successful
The Lake Faire will be May 19, 2007 8:30-12:00. We expect 4 speakers and 14 displays including the Wild Ones, an organization promoting native plants.
