April 2, 2007
Chairman Wayne Towne called the meeting to order.
Commissioners Present: Wayne Towne, Mike Bader, Jacque Fedders,
Susan Johnson, Tom Moutvic, and Bob Hermes.
Commissioners Excused: Jim Wayka
Guests: Thomas Strebel
Secretary’s Report: Mike Bader made a motion to approve the minutes from February 19, 2007 meeting. Jacque Fedders second. Motion carried.
Financial Report: Tom Moutvic made a motion to approve the financial report. Mike Bader second. Motion carried
Disbursements: Mike Bader made a motion to approve the disbursements. Jacque Fedders second. Motion carried.
Chairman’s Report: Wayne Towne reported on the Boating Safety meeting in Stevens Point.
Wayne stated that Pete Harris from STS Consultants is working on the plans for the maintenance for Dam 3.
Wayne reported the grant for the chemical treatment was denied. Pete Harris is working with on the waterway commission for possible funding.
Wayne stated that the confirmations have been received for the people signed up for the WAL convention.
Wayne stated that he chose not to go to the Governor’s Conference because there was a number of people from the County already going.
Wayne reported that there is a silent weather watch that is taking place in May at the Shawano Court House.
Wayne asked the Board to get supporters to vote for Bob Hermes for the election.
Committee Reports:
Lake Maintenance: Tom Moutvic discussed employment applications that he had received. He said that he would check with the workers on who is returning to work this year.
Wayne stated that they only would be cutting in the lake by the Lodge and the lake by the dam due to chemical treatments in all other areas.
Tom stated that they will be getting Aquarius here to work on the harvester to get the motor running correctly.
Tom reported on the progress of the adopt-a-shore program and his plans. He said that he is going to put an article in the newsletter. He also stated that he needs to purchase some garbage pickers.
Legal & Personnel: Mike Bader stated that he talked to Attorney Vance Waggoner about the joining of lots to decrease taxes. According to Vance Waggoner it is a State rule that this can not be done. Bob Hermes stated that the County is going to be looking into this.
Grant Communication/Sanitary Committee: Jacque Fedders stated that the pumping cards are prepared and will be going out.
Jacque stated that she needs a new speaker for the Lake Faire because one dropped out. She stated that they will be sending out a post card announcing the Lake Faire. There was a discussion about where to advertise for the Lake Faire. Tom Moutvic suggested having Mark Grunzel from the Highway Department speak.
Bob Hermes suggested that Schneider & Son’s as a speaker about the new type of retaining wall.
Law Enforcement: Bob Hermes reported that there is an Earth Day large item garbage pick up day scheduled for April.
There was a discussion about the County/Town election that was coming up.
Fish Committee: Wayne stated that there are still no surveys from this spring. He also reported that the tree drops have been put in. Wayne reported that Jeremy Johnson has verified that the tree drop was done properly.
Wayne talked about the need to go around and update signs on the boat landings. Wayne also stated that they should put handicap parking by the boat landing.
Wayne Towne and Mike Bader talked about possible plans the Association has for their boat launches. Bob Hermes stated that the Association was asked by the Land Conservation Committee to close the launches mainly for the benefit for the whole lake.
Old Business: Tom Moutvic stated that he was interested in putting a phosphorous article in the newsletter.
Wayne stated that the main reason they did not get approval to treat the whole lake is because they would need to do an EPA study and get their permission. There was a discussion about the grant criteria.
New Business: Susan Johnson asked for approval to set up money transfers on line. Mike Bader made a motion to approve setting up on line money transfers. Jacque Fedders second. Motion carried.
There was a discussion about changing the date on the next meeting from April 30, 2007.
Bob Hermes stated that they will soon finish cutting the railing off the boat launch.
Next meeting is on April 23, 2007 at 8:00 A.M. at Legend Lake Lodge.
