Mechanical Harvesting Permit
The following is and excerpt from the information regarding the weed harvesting permit issued by the DNR. This permit outlines the conditions that must be followed by the harvesters in order to retain the permit.
..."PERMIT CONDITIONS"
- Mechanical harvesting will only be allowed in the areas specified in the Legend Lake harvesting plan and as described in the permit application. The removal of floating mats of vegetation is allowed. The maximum width of any harvested channels will be 20 feet wide. No harvesting is allowed within 25 feet of the shoreline. The permit expires December 31, 2005.
- Disposal of the harvested aquatic plants must be located in the areas specified in the Legend Lake harvesting plan and as described in the permit application and must be in accordance with county and local regulations.
- The quantity and species of plants to be mechanically harvested must be in accordance with the Legend Lake harvesting plan and as described in the permit application.
- Mechanical harvesting records must be given to the Department within 30 days after the last harvesting operations of the season..."
