LLPRD Chairman's Report:
The cool dry summer has been lowering the lake level since June. Lake levels most likely will not come up without a lot of rain. According to the U.S. Weather Service the ground water level is low for the entier northern part of the state. As fast as the water level has been dropping people with boat lifts may soon have problems launching their boats. The valves at Dam #3 remain closed and will only be opened if absolutely necessary!
People who have an interest in Wisconsin Lakes may
want to join with the many lake property owners who support the
Wisconsin Association of Lakes. For information about WAL go to
www.wisconsinlakes.org. This watch dog group keeps a sharp eye on the
legislation that affects lake quality and property owner's rights.

Re: homemade water buoys, jugs, etc…..
Wis. Statue Ch 30.74(2)…”any regulatory marker or aid to navigation that does not comply with this marking system is considered an unlawful obstruction to navigable waters and may be removed in accordance with law”. This is a citable of offense. Minimum $ 186 forfeiture.
Perhaps that will suffice and landowners will remove them on there own. I will keep an eye out for them and I will let boat patrol know as well.

Help Fight EWM
The aquatic plant harvesters are restricted as to how close they can come to the shore and there may be re-growth in the chemically treated areas. If you see any Eurasian Water Milfoil plants growing in the water near your shoreland, take the time to hand pull it or rake it out to prevent it going to seed. Even after chemical treatment seed beds will start new plant colonies. Remove the plant material away from the shore and use it for mulch or take it to the compost site. The more EWM that is removed from the lake, the sooner we will have it under control, Please do your part.
Thank you, LLP&RD Commissioners.
